- MYTH: Tampon can get lost
FACT: Vagina is not connected to your body inside. Even if you are unable to find your tampon, your Gynecologist will be able to remove it with a speculum & forceps.
- MYTH: Vagina & vulva are the same
FACT: Vagina is a hollow tube that extends from your cervix to your hymen. Everything that you can see โ urethra, clitoris, labia minora, labia majora & pubis is vulva.
- MYTH: Bath products or feminine hygiene products are a must for my intimate health
FACT: Bath products that have chemical dyes or fragrances are infact not good as they upset the natural bacterial balance in the vagina. This leads to multiplication of anaerobic bacteria & yeast
- MYTH: Vaginal douching keeps my vagina healthy
FACT: Vagina is a self-cleansing organ. Vaginal discharge, whether thick or thin or clear or white is the result of your vaginaโs cleaning efforts. Douching removes the healthy bacteria (lactobacilli), changes vaginal pH (normal 3.8-4.5) & predisposes to bacterial vaginosis & infection.
- MYTH: Vagina becomes moist as you age
FACT: Vaginal tissue becomes thinner and drier as you approach menopause due to declining estrogen levels. But vaginal moisturizers, lubricants or estrogen creams can be effective solutions
