Nine reasons why women develop insulin resistance

1. Diet rich in carbs like sugar, refined flour, white rice etc

2. Lack of healthy fats like omega 3 like momounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) & polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA)

3. Order of eating: if you eat carbs first, it causes more glucose spikes

4. Due to lack of exercise, muscles don’t burn enough glucose

5. If there is too much consumption of milk from cows that are injected with artificial hormones (IGF-1 insulin like growth factor 1), insulin resistance is more likely

6. If gap between sleeping & eating is less than 2 hours, it keeps glucose & insulin higher for a longer period of time thereby developing insulin resistance

7. Lack of sleep also leads to more insulin production

8. Stress causes more inflammation & more insulin production

9. Women above 40 years of age tend to lose muscle mass, thus declining glucose uptake and increasing insulin resistance
